Sing Up For Ryan Giggs

I heard some news on Sunday that saddened me greatly regarding, arguably, the greatest of all servants at Manchester United, Ryan Giggs.

He will NOT be offered another contract by the club and although some of you may be thinking well he is 40 now so its no great loss he will also NOT be kept on in any capacity at the club.

From what I have been told by someone inside the club David Moyes feels threatened and intimidated by Giggs overwhelming experience and has been looking for a way to force him out of the club from pretty much the first few weeks in charge.

Full credit to Ryan who has resisted going public on these matters and will attempt to just see out the remaining few weeks of what has been an awful season for his beloved United. I’ve been told that he is desperate to stay at the club but cannot see any way of that happening. Worst of all he also feels he will not get the chance to say goodbye to the United fans and thank them for all the wonderful times they have shared together. He has been desperate to play these last few weeks but has inexplicably been left out of the side despite his man of the match performance against Olympiakos.

Indeed he was only selected to play against Olympiakos because a fellow player tipped off the media that he was being deliberately frozen out. So David Moyes ‘tactical masterstroke’ was actually forced on him so as not to upset the fans.

With this in mind I urge all at Old Trafford, and those wonderful fans that follow the team away from home, to sing your hearts out for Giggs as you will not be seeing him again in his famous number 11 shirt after this season.

It’s the very least he deserves.

The squad were always going to try take-a-break from the rigorous routine SAF had them in. With the switch, Moyes knew this would happen and has failed to get the team performing, this clear after 47 line-up changes. After early knock-outs in all tournaments bar CL, the team (with limited exceptions) still seem to be choosing when to fire on more than only one cylinder. Without huge efforts required in different tournaments every few days, this lack of performance and discipline can’t be justified in any club, let alone Man United. Moyes is obviously not the right man for the job. The right one may also cause upsets in the dressing room, say the wrong thing on occasion, but will bring results - as contracted. The weird line-ups, subs etc. only point to management’s inability to utilise a winning squad or even stabilise the ship. Moyes has had a problem with Valencia and Evra from day one. They were key to last season’s success. He also made the choice to replace all-and-sundry with his own staff. That management must now bear the consequences of their failure.

Whether Giggs, Van Gaal or Klopp… a change should at least bring strings of great results, instead of one-a-month, plus encourage a few quality players to come on board. I think Giggs already has the backing of the first team and the respect of any potential signings - GIVE HIM THE JOB!!!

OR…

Should us die-hard Manchester United fans just hang-in and wait for the club to de-value, change ownership and management then totally re-build???

@vimbaaaai this makes so much sense. moyes needs to be out by the end of the season but i fear the wins might convince the board otherwise.

@dazjenno well that is very sad then, especially if Giggs goes and Moyes stays! How much more damage can this guy do to the club?

Nottinghamshire born and bred, my earliest memories are of following United despite everyone else being Forest or Liverpool (shudders). First went to see them under Big Ron when they were flambouyant but flawed. Was at Wembley in 1990 when the Fergie era really began to bear fruit. Have a large collection of photos of me with dodgy hair and dodgy United shirts. Fave players Robbo, Big Norm, Choccy, Keano, Ole, Kanchelskis and of course Eric. Hated by Robbie Savage and the Dalglish family... the feelings mutual!
