Alan Tonge was a product of the Manchester United youth system and was Sir Alex Ferguson's first ever signing at the club. A lifelong red, Alan played for a few years and was around as Fergie laid the foundations for his legendary career at Old Trafford. After he left United, Alan spent time with Exeter before being forced to retire in 1996 after a long-standing back complaint. Alan is now a lecturer at the Manchester College and contributes to Talk Of The Devils where he shares both his memories of his time at United and his opinion on current affairs in the world of English football.
